Classes in 2022
And we’re back! We’ve once again teamed up with Crumbles Castle for more Bang Bang Drum School sessions in 2022!
-
Bucket Drumming
This week we focused on bucket drumming. We used our homemade colourful beaters to experiment with and play different timbres of the bucket.
-
Graphic Scores
Today’s workshop was an introduction to basic graphic notation. We looked at a page from Cornelius Cardew’s Treatise, made our own aquatic-themed graphic score and performed along to Janine’s abstract animation.
-
Our second workshop…
Our second workshop featured cymbals and body percussion. We learned the ‘We Will Rock You’ beat and made our very own drumsticks!
-
Our first session went off with a bang!
We made explorations into the world of rhythm, making small hand drums out of old coffee tins and playing on a variety of drums including a snare, tom toms, shaman drum and a thunder drum!
-
Only One Week to Go!
Bang Bang Drum School starts a week today! It’s a new venture for us and we’re very excited that you and your little ones will be able to join us. Here’s a little more of what to expect.
-
Custom Drumsticks
In our second session, which will take place on Friday 8 October, we will be using our bodies to make rhythms and demonstrating various percussion instruments, showing that almost anything can be a drum!
-
Bucket Drums
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to our new drum school! In the first session, we will be showing your little ones how to make their own drum-shaker. They will also get the opportunity to play on a variety of different drums and learn some basic beats.

100 Creative Responses
The first iteration of the Bang Bang idea came in 2012 when my friend, Andrew Steingold, asked me to participate in his call and response project ‘100 Creative Responses’.
